At the moment we receive salvation from Christ, we have been freed. We do not just freed from bondage of sin, but also released from all the religious laws that bind. We have the freedom to do anything. Paul may allow the church at Corinth to eat food that had been offered to idols. Paul said, food will not bring us closer to God (ay.8).
Even so, there is the church of Corinth who still feel guilty when eating the "idolatry of food". Faced with this situation, Paul suggested that we might see the first kemanfaatannya: if more harm (loss) than good, well we do not use our freedom. Do not let us become stumbling block to others.
There is a servant of God whose wife was studying abroad. One day he give a lift to another woman. This is the talk of the congregation. "We do not do things that are not worthy, really 'said this servant of God. "Yeah, but it may cause a stumbling block to your church," he advised his colleagues. We are free to do anything, but do not let it make other people of faith to be weak [Purnawan].
